Each cell of my body, O Sun,
Kindle with thy ecstasy’s fire;
O Truth-flame burning deep within,
Thy gold be my glowing attire.
Dispel this cloud of matted hair,
My eyes with a starry look replace;
Wide like a dazzle be my brow
In thy sunstorm’s sky-rushing blaze.
I have poured my breath in thy hearth
And made all a chant of my being;
Even as I soar, O Splendour,
Let unto me be thy journeying!
I took up this prayer-poem after more than 30 years and touched it up into a pentameter.
Each cell of my body, O luminous sun,
Kindle with your radiant ecstacy’s fire;
O marvelous truth-flame that burns inside,
Your raiment of gold be my glowing attire.
This massed cloud of tangled, matted hair dispel,
Endow my eyes with a star-piercing gaze;
Be wide as revelation’s dazzle my brow
In your sunstorm’s fiery, sky-rushing blaze.
I have poured my breath in your glorious hearth
And made all a rhythmic chant of my being;
Even as I soar, O celestial splendour,
Let unto me be your immortal journeying.
